James Hurley–Senior University Budget Director Jim came to us most recently from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, where he served as Vice President for Budget and Planning. While at Northwestern he managed the annual planning and budget process of the university’s operating and capital budgets, including coordinating a network of 75+ budget managers, and was instrumental in negotiating funds flow and integration agreements between the University and its major clinical affiliate, Northwestern Memorial HealthCare, and establishing the University’s campus in Doha, Qatar. Prior to joining Northwestern Jim served in the same capacity at Brandeis University, was Associate Dean for Administration and Finance at New York University in New York City, and was Director of Financial Planning at the SUNY Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn. Jim is a graduate of Bridgewater State University earning a Bachelor of Science Degree and has also done graduate coursework at Virginia Tech in the Master’s program in Urban and Regional Planning.
Rock Rottler – Director, University Budget Rock has been with Tufts University for twenty years serving most of this period as a member of Finance, Planning and Analysis. He has fulfilled various roles from Sr. Financial Analyst to Associate Director and recently joined the Budget Center as University Budget Director in July of 2016. Prior to joining Tufts, Rock worked for a major defense contractor as a senior business administrator and received his MBA from Northeastern University.
Elizabeth Torres – Director, Cummings, Tisch, and Operations portfolios
Elizabeth has been at Tufts for 15 years in the Dean’s Office at the Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine on the Grafton campus. Her most recent position there is as the Budget and Fiscal Officer. Elizabeth has an MBA from UMass. Prior to coming to Tufts, Elizabeth worked in the Pharmaceutical industry with a degree in Biology from MIT.
Sal Tripoli – Budget Systems Analyst
Sal joined Tufts in 2016 after working in a senior role for a Boston-based environmental startup as an analyst, project manager, and systems administrator. His experience includes database reporting and workflow development, high-level analytics, and data visualization. Previously he has filled various positions in technology, management consulting, and public outreach. He studied public policy and policy evaluation at Providence College and Northeastern University.
