University Information Technology (UIT) and Finance are currently working on a project to bring an on-line effort reporting system to Tufts which will increase compliance and efficiency for effort reporting which is required by the Federal Government.
We envision this electronic system will have workflow, electronic notification and on-line certification. Ideally this system will interface with both PeopleSoft and the new Research Administration pre-award system currently being investigated. Potential features include cost sharing, calculations of salary cap excess, ability to handle 9 month versus 12 month appointments, automated monitoring of percent of effort committed on grants, and an automated suitable means checklist.
By upgrading to state-of-the art technology, we envision this system to have a secure easy-to-use web-based user interface, remote access and extended availability beyond Monday through Friday 9:00AM to 5:00PM. In addition, we envision the system providing electronic storage and archiving, real time tracking and reporting tools and interface with PeopleSoft on salary adjustments.
