Background and Organizational Structure
The Finance Division at Tufts University is part of Central Administration. Finance employees are located at the Tufts Administration Building (169 Holland Street) on the Medford/Somerville campus, the 2nd floor of Posner Hall on the Boston campus, or the Services Building on the Grafton campus.
Led by Thomas McGurty, VP for Finance & Treasurer, the Finance Division is comprised of three functions, some with "units" within each. They are as follows:
Financial Services - Richard Doolin, Senior Director
- Accounts Payable - responsible for the payment of invoices to vendors.
- Sponsored Programs Accounting - responsible for post-award grant management and the University's Effort Reporting System.
- Financial Information Systems - responsible for production of financial reports, security for system access, process feeds, etc.
- Boston Business Office - responsible for T-pass program, Boston campus tuition payments, accounting for Clinics.
- Foreign Payroll Tax Accounting - responsible for all tax issues for resident aliens and non-resident aliens including Visas.
- Disbursement Audit - responsible for reviewing transactions for University compliance.
- Disbursement Administration - responsible for PCard administration, EDI (electronic ordering).
- Communications and Training - responsible for providing University community with information regarding how to read financial reports, forms, policies and procedures and "What's New" when changes in policies or agents occur.
Finance and Planning - Susan Leverone, Senior Director
Responsible for University Budget process, tax filings, financial statements, plant accounting, endowment accounting, capital planning and analysis (including overhead and benefit rate development).
Treasury Operations - Darleen Karp, Assistant Treasurer
Responsible for cash management, wire transfers and investments.
Purchasing and Property – Diane Devlin, Director Responsible for University purchases and inventory of capitalized equipment and space.
